Boss #2: Overseer
The Overseer is a powerful mage and the second major boss in the game. You find him in the Overseer's Lair (map area 25) after travelling through a tower in Florennum (map area 22, tower is map area 23 and 24) that is full of traps and enemies. He has captured the king of Florennum and you must defeat the Overseer to free him. This is one of the trickiest battles in the game, relying almost completely on good strategy instead of brute force.
If you defeat the Overseer without taking any damage, you willl recieve the "Like a Ninja" Achievement, one of the hardest achievements to earn in the game. This achievement is tied with two others ("Indiana Jones" and "Master of Order") for giving the most Google Play Games experience and IOS Game Center points (8000 EXP and 80 points, respectively).

This battle is broken up into three stages, each of about equal difficulty. Remember, you cannot deflect the Overseer's attacks with your sword unless you are wielding the Mageblade. The first takes place on three platforms and looks like this:

When you see this, your first reaction is probably to shoot the Overseer with Magic Bolts from a distance. This is a very bad idea due to the fact that whenever the Overseer is damaged, he will teleport to the same spot on the other side of the screen, right behind where my character is standing in the screenshot above, and release a storm of Magic Bolts. Ouch. The overseer will always attack by releasing a lot of Bolts at once, but they are not very accurate. You should jump down to the middle platform and wait until right after he has finished attacking, then jump up onto the platform of Overseer is currently on and start hacking away. He will teleport to the other side, launching Magic Bolts at all platforms except the one he formerly occupied and you currently occupy. Repeat the process again a couple of times. After the Overseer has lost about a third of his life, he will teleport away to the next part of the fight.

The above screenshot shows the second area of the battle, which is arguably the easiest section. The Overseer won't teleport at all, so just stand where I am in the picture and blast away. The Overseer will launch barrages of Magic Boolts at you, but is very inaccurate (example: the bolt he fired into the abyss in the picture is closer to him than to me), and in the offchance he does shoot accurately, most of the time he will hit the floating ledge and the Bolt will dissipate. One thing you have to watch out for is that sometimes his bolts turn into Fire Blobs, but these can easily be killed, and sometimes drop red circles that restore heath and blue circles that restore your magical energy. Unlike the first section of the Overseer's Lair, he is not affected by your actions (besides taking damage) and will repeat his attack pattern endlessly. When the Overseer has about a third of his life remaining, he will teleport away to the third and final area of the Overseer's Lair.
In the third area, the Overseer has three places he will constantly be teleporting between in a certain order. Like the second part of the battle, he will not change his pattern of attack in any way based on character actions. Every time he materializes, he will release a hailstorm of Magic Bolts before teleporting away. These Bolts cover a wide area, but each has a blind spot that can be exploited. The below picture shows the first place the Overseer will warp to, with me standing in the blind spot.

The next picture shows the Overseer's second location, again with me in the blind spot.

This next picture shows the Overseer's third warp point, which has two blind spots which are the blind spots from the two aforementioned locations. However, I recomend the blind spot to the left because you should already be there. While the Overseer is materializing you can jump and slash, but you shouldn't land on the platform with the Overseer, just slash once in the air. You can also jump and slash while the Overseer is dematerializing.

When you defeat the Overseer, head to the left to recieve the second part of the Mageblade: the hilt. The king of Florennum will thank you for freeing him but will stay in his prison cell for the rest of the game, including after you beat it. Go figure.
